StatStream is a Python/Streamlit statistical analysis application intended for non‑statisticians. It allows scientists to upload data to run through guided analysis. Thus, StatStream integrates statistical analysis with guided help for non-experts.
Applications and Advantages
- StatStream provides a convenient method for analyzing experimental data, specifically laboratory developed assays used in clinical and research settings.
- It assists students and non-statisticians with learning and performing statistical analyses.
- It is run on a standard Windows machine, so it is easily useable on most devices.
- StatStream combines statistical calculations, visualizations, and contextual help in one application.
Innovation Description
StatStream is a prototype software application, implemented in Python using the Streamlit framework, that packages common statistical analyses and visualizations into a guided, user‑friendly interface specifically aimed at non‑statisticians. It is set up to be as portable as possible and can run on any computer with or without an internet connection as long as the software is downloaded along with the specific version of Python. Users launch the Windows installed application (on a local, shared, or Citrix desktop), upload tabular data in CSV or text format, select variables of interest, and choose from analysis modules (for example, probit analysis). The interface supplies contextual help text and tooltips for options, runs the selected statistical computations, and generates graphical outputs to help users interpret results.
The inventive value is not in novel statistical algorithms but in the assembly and presentation of the software. StatStream integrates standard statistical calculations, visual plots, and explanatory guidance into a single, portable application so laboratory scientists, clinicians, and students can run appropriate analyses without steep training or outsourcing.

Innovation Status
StatStream is currently in the prototype stage. In its current state, the program offers a moderate degree of in-app data, guided data filtering, and support for some statistical tests. Several utilities for more complex statistics are in mid-development. The guidance portion of this software is also in mid-development, with partial completion. An additional six months would be needed to complete development of the StatStream software. Once complete, there are no foreseeable hindrances to widespread adoption. The system should be able to be downloaded and run on any computer.
